It is with great pleasure that I announce to you that on 18th July 2012 at 11:00a.m The African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) signed a memorandum of Understanding with the African Union Commission. This is a landmark for ACPF as it strengthens the long standing Co-operation and partnership that has existed between the two institutions.
The Commission and ACPF shall maintain close and continuing working relationships in order to promote the rights of children in Africa, their inclusion in development, and their access to basic social and health services. In Addition ACPF shall cooperate with the Commission and the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC) in creating awareness and promoting the implementation of programmes that advance children's rights and wellbeing within AU Member States in order to make Africa fit for children.
ACPF shall, as far as it is reasonably able, support the children's programme of the Commission and the activities of ACERWC. In addition, the Commission and ACPF shall cooperate on mutually agreed matters of common inertest for the development and benefit of children in Africa.
On behalf of the ACPF International Board of Trustees and the staff, I express our sincere thanks to the African Union Commission for concretising our partnership by signing this Memorandum of Understanding. As ACPf, we pledge our continued support to the work of the African Union Commission on promoting the rights and wellbeing of child in Africa.
