This report presents the findings of a retrospective survey on violence against girls carried out in five selected countries from Western and Central Africa. The countries included; Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Nigeria and Senegal. It follows a previous study carried out in Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda, with a similar objective of uncovering the various types and forms of violence girls experience from childhood to adulthood. the study was geared at contributing to a deeper and broader understanding of the nature, scope and dynamics of violence against girls so as to inform and enlist appropriate and proactive policy and programme interventions to address the problem.

The study focused on specific types and forms of violence against girls namely; physical violence, psychological violence, sexual violence as well as exploitative/harmful sexual and traditional practices.
