This report presents the main findings of a Statistical Presentation of Opinions and Perceptions of Children and Youth conducted in Angola in 2006 by The African  Child Policy Forum in partnership with UNICEF’s Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Office. The objectives of the poll were to seek the opinions of children on some of the issues shaping their lives; to identify the problems and issues that they see as priorities in the children’s rights agenda; and to understand their perceptions of the importance of their role in decision making by the government and by civil society in general.

In Angola, a total of 500 interviews were conducted amongst children and youth aged nine to 17 years old. Approximately half these interviews were conducted in urban areas and half were carried out in rural areas. Data was then reweighted to make it representative of the youth population in Angola where 66 per cent of young people aged between nine and 17 years old live in urban areas and 34 per cent live in rural areas.
