This booklet has been published by the African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) to provide easy access to the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC)

The African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (also called the ACRWC or the African Children's Charter) was adopted by the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in 1990 and entered into force on 29 November 1999. The ACRWC is a comprehensive regional instrument that sets out rights and defines universal principles and norms for children in Africa.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)

The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is an international treaty on children’s rights, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 20 November 1989 and it came into force on 2 September 1990.
