Honourable Wilson de Almeida Adão, an Angolan academic, is the current Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC). Wilson de Almeida Adão was born in northern Uíge province in Angola in 1985, during a period of war in which his parents often had to fight to eat, emphasising that he was also affected, like many African children, by forced displacement due to armed conflict and worked as a boy.
