Atangcho Akonumbo is Professor of Law at the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the University of Yaounde II, Cameroon. He is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Laws and Political Science, University of Buea, Cameroon. He previously held the position of Vice Dean at the Faculty of Law and Political Science, University of Yaoundé II, Cameroon and at the Faculty of Law and Political Science, University of Bamenda, Cameroon. He is Visiting Professor at a host of universities and higher institutions of learning such as the Catholic University of Central Africa, Cameroon; Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, South Africa; and Regional War College, Yaounde, Cameroon. Professor Atangcho Akonumbo is consultant for a quite a good number of international institutions and organisations on access to medicines issues, including the World Health Organisation (WHO); United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and World Bank Institute (WBI).
He is also consultant for the African Union Commission Department of Social Affairs (AUC-DSA); African Committee on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC); and African Child Policy Forum (ACPF), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He is Custodian and Legal Adviser of the AfricaWide Movement for Children (AMC) based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He has been Fellow at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Academy - World Trade Organisation (WTO) Intellectual property Division first Colloquium Fellowship for Teachers of Intellectual Property; Visiting Research Fellow at the Institute for International and Comparative Law in Africa, Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria; and Principal Fulbright Scholar at the Institute on Politics and Political Thought, Donahue Institute, University of Massachusetts, United States.
Professor Atangcho Akonumbo is member of scholarly, professional and civil society associations like the Académie de la Paix et des Droits de l’Homme en Afrique Centrale (APDHAC), Catholic University of Central Africa, Cameroon; and the Centre de Droit International et Communautaire (CEDIC) in Yaounde. He has been editor-in-chief for a number of Law and Political Science journals, and is currently on the Scientific Board of some.
Professor Atangcho Akonumbo holds a Licence, Maitrise, Diplôme d’Etudes Approfondies (DEA), Doctorat de Troisième Cycle and PhD in Law (Yaoundé).
