Accordingly, this study looks into the situations in which adolescents live. It uncovers the numerous challenges they grapple with, such as violence, poverty, inequity and poor access to essential health, education, information, legal and social protection
services. It analyses the various intersecting risks faced by adolescents, such as sexual exploitation, child labour and trafficking, displacement, substance abuse, child marriage and female genital mutilation. The impacts of evolving crises are also presented in the report as factors that adversely impact their development and wellbeing. I believe this report will deepen our understanding of socio-cultural tensions and contradictions that shape the day-to-day experiences of African adolescents.
